Many anti-wrinkle and skin rejuvenation products contain retinol, a form of vitamin A. Many people do not know there is a difference between retinol and Retin-A. Retin-A is tretinoin (or retinoic acid). Retinol does not have the same direct effect on the skin, as Retin-A. When retinol is exposed to air during storage or use, much of it oxidizes before it converts to retinoic acid. Therefore less people respond to retinol creams than the Retin-A (tretinoin or retinoic acid). So What is Right for Your Skin? Retin- A (tretinoin) appears to be better at reducing wrinkles than even the best retinol formulations, especially the OTC products. Tretinoin users who do experience skin irritation or chronic peeling can reduce the concentration and/or frequency of application. If that does not help then you need to consider trying a retinol product.

At Chenal Skin Care Center, the aestheticians Vicky Crook and Virginia Nelson believe in the benefits of Tretinoin. We sell several different strengths. We start our clients on .05% in the beginning and then as tolerated they move up to the .1%. We also sell Obagi's Refissa .05%, their version of Renova, which contains an emollient that softens and smooths the skin minimizing irritation. For some clients depending on their sensitivity level, we start them on Retinol 30, or 60 in the beginning. Call and make an appointment to get your "A" today. Let's us help you get your skin in shape for the fall season. Thanks Virginia Nelson
